Description

Situated on top of the Welbedacht Cliff Tops 3km from Knysna Town, the Lodge overlooks the Knysna Lagoon and the Outeniqua mountains. The theme of the Lodge is one based on natural beauty with stone and wood architecture combining to give that comfortable earthy feel.

The lodge is a family run business that prides itself on personal service and ensuring an unforgettable experience for all.

Champagne and oysters, sunset cruises and sundowners on the deck around the swimming pool are a few of the experiences to look forward to.

Accommodation

The Main Lodge

Superbly decorated lounge and dining room with fire place overlooking lagoon. Rim flow pool overlooking the lagoon, mountains and forests.

The Family Suite

The sixth suite, the FAMILY SUITE has a partial view of the lagoon, mountains and forests. It consists of two interleading bedrooms, sharing a bathroom with a spa bath and large shower. The private dressing room and all the facilities of the other suites are identical. A spacious deck with umbrella and loungers enjoys lagoon, mountain and forest views.

The Executive Suite

The seventh suite, an EXECUTIVE SUITE with spa bath and separate shower, has a spacious lounge with private wine selection, and a large private deck

The Fynbos Suite

The fifth suite, while still enjoying lagoon views, is embedded in indigenous "fynbos" surroundings attracting numerous bird species and giving that "hidden away" feeling.

Lagoon Suites

The four Lagoon Suites have magical views onto the Knysna lagoon from every corner.

Directions

From George: Follow the N2 towards Knysna, drive over the Knysna River Bridge (White Bridge) until 3km before Knysna town itself. You will encounter a turnoff called Welbedacht Lane to your left. From Port Elizabeth: Drive through Knysna Town staying on the N2. The last set of traffic lights at the end of town is a T Junction with the railway line and lagoon on your left hand side. Drive straight on along the lagoon front and past the craft market on your left. 50m after the craft market is a sign to the right called Welbedacht Lane. From Welbedacht Lane: Turn left into Welbedacht Lane and continue straight along this road until you get to a turn off on the left hand side called Cherry Lane. (It is the first street left) Turn left into Cherry Lane and continue up the road to a T junction. At the T junction you will see a sign that says "Elephant Hide Lodge". Follow the sign left until you encounter another sign 20m past the first sign, pointing right. Go straight up this road and you will drive into the lodge. The lodge is sign-posted in Welbedacht Lane on large green boards and in Cherry Lane on brown pointer boards.
